A Fork in the Road: Challenge or Opportunity?
In life, as in business, our journey is often met with a series of “forks in the road”. These forks represent critical points that require us to make a choice and follow a particular direction. Whether the fork in the road is unexpected or specifically engineered, the choice of path we take can have a huge impact on our life and career moving forward.
For many professional women, the key to their success has been the way in which they view these decisions - either as a challenge or as an opportunity.
The next Women in Business Forum will feature guest speakers who have reached a certain point in their professional and personal life, and made a choice to follow a different path.
Ros Kelly, AO, will provide a fascinating insight into the choices she has made during her career. After moving from the ACT Legislative Assembly to Federal Parliament in 1980, Ros held a number of Ministerial positions and was a high profile, active member of government.
In 1994, Ros left Parliament to pursue other interests. She has chosen to devote her time to environmental, conservation and women’s health issues, and has subsequently been awarded an Order of Australia for her contribution to the community in these areas.
Ros is currently Chair of the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF), after initially accepting a role as Trustee for the Foundation in 2003, and will be representing them at the Women in Business Forum. She is an active contributor to the work of the NBCF and we will hear how important this role is to Ros.
Our second speaker, a prominent Australian businesswoman and ambassador for the NBCF, will also provide an insight into the challenges she has faced since being diagnosed with breast cancer and the change in direction she has made both professionally and personally.
As with previous Women in Business events, you will have an opportunity to ask questions and network with other senior businesswomen from a variety of western-Sydney based companies. Every guest will also be given a free gift bag on the day and entered into the draw for some fabulous prizes.
Places are limited and registrations will be accepted on a first in-first served basis. Given the growing popularity and demand for these events we would suggest that you register now to ensure your place.
