Biography

Stephen has been a member of the firm since 1987 and has been practising for over 20 years. He is Team Leader of Coleman & Greig’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution Team. He has developed the firm’s practice in the area of employment law, advising and representing employer and employee clients in a wide range of areas including unjust dismissals, unfair contracts, discrimination, and workforce restructuring and redundancies.

Stephen also has a large commercial litigation practice, including substantial trade practices, intellectual property, contract, building and construction, product liability and wills disputes.

His broad range of experience gives him a practical background in assessing business problems and resolving disputes with commercially satisfactory results. He has special expertise in the area of trade practices law, and in particular, practical compliance with the law and management of risk. He writes commentary for CCH’s Australian Trade Practices Reporter and also contributes to CCH’s Australian Master Trade Practices Guide.

Stephen also has expertise on the legal issues relating to intellectual disabilities and has published articles in various journals and a book, When I’m Gone, which is a plain English guide to will-making for parents of children with an intellectual disability. At the request of the Federal Government, he has written plain language guides to special disability trusts and related social security concessions for people with a severe disability, and their families.
