Winner: 2008 Regional Excellence, Outstanding Community Contribution
Winner: 2008 Excellence in Business Practice, Customer Service
Coleman & Greig enjoyed success at the 2008 Western Sydney Industry Awards - winning the Regional Excellence, Outstanding Community Contribution category and the Excellence in Business Practice, Community Service category. The Awards follow on from the firm’s success at last year’s ceremony when we won the Outstanding Service Award and received a Highly Commended for Outstanding Community Contribution.
A reflection of our commitment to service
According to Coleman & Greig’s Principal, Mr Paul Lucas, this year’s win was particularly important given the categories involved. “As a firm, we place so much importance on people. Not just our own staff, but our clients and the community in which we operate.
“We go to great lengths to ensure the quality of our customer service, and the satisfaction of our clients, whether we are dealing with individuals or businesses” said Mr Lucas. “To be recognised regionally for excellence in customer service is extremely satisfying because it means that we are getting it right – our systems and our processes for ensuring we place the customer first are the best they can be.”
At Coleman & Greig, excellent customer service is encouraged at all levels of the firm. From the implementation of staff training modules on effective customer service, through to ensuring that customer feedback and client survey comments are examined and then acted upon, all aspects of the customer-firm interaction are monitored.
Value-added activities, including seminars and briefings, are planned for commercial clients and individual clients receive considerable information in the form of Plain English Guides that complement the personal service they receive and help them navigate their way through a legal issue.
The greater community
In terms of outstanding community contribution, Mr Lucas said the firm was particularly proud of their efforts in this field. “Western Sydney is a growing community and a very diverse community. We try to ensure that we make a worthwhile contribution to that community and to give something back: whether it’s to the business community through initiatives like breakfast briefings and the Women in Business Forum; the general community through job-creation and our involvement in the Western Sydney Collaborative Family Lawyers network; or those in need through our support of charities like St Gabriel’s School for Hearing Impaired Children.”
The Coleman and Greig Women in Business Forum was in fact a major component of the firm’s submission this year, highlighting the efforts of the firm to support senior businesswomen in the region. “Our clients told us that they needed a support network in this area and they have embraced the Forum accordingly” said Mr Lucas. “The Forum is going from strength to strength, continuing to attract the highest calibre attendees as well as some high profile speakers and presenters, such as Gail Kelly, Wendy McCarthy and Kieren Perkins.”
The Award process
Designed to highlight the NSW government’s commitment to regional growth and prosperity, the Western Sydney Industry Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of western-Sydney based companies in a variety of categories.
The award process involves a panel of expert judges reviewing submissions from a variety of local businesses (both small and large) in categories such as global and regional excellence, business practice, entrepreneurship and innovation.
Applications are comprehensive in nature and outline the various activities businesses undertake within each category. With a field of candidates representing a variety of industries and professions across the entire Western Sydney region, the Awards are highly competitive and highly valued.
